Kieran Dodds is a non-fiction photographer, known internationally for his research-driven photographic stories and portraits. Dodds' personal work looks at the interplay of environment and culture, and the importance of spiritual belief in global conservation.
After studying Zoology at university, Dodds trained at the prestigious Herald Newspaper group in Glasgow, picking up national and international awards. His first self-assigned story - 'The Bats of Kasanka' - received 1st prize in the World Press Photo Awards. Laterly, a Winston Churchill Travel Fellowship allowed Dodds to document Tibetan culture in flux, to produce 'The Third Pole'.
Upon return, Dodds redirected his attention towards the political upheaval of Scotland. Through 'Land of Scots', Dodds considers the depiction and reality of Scottish identity throughout the centuries. Most recently, funded by the Royal Photographic Society's Environmental Bursary, he explores the major role of spiritual belief within the global conservation movement.
