Browns Gallery initially started life as a framing workshop, catering to the needs of local artists and the public alike. 27 years on, we make frames for some of Scotland’s leading artists, many of whom have come to exhibit in the gallery over the years. We offer a wide range of framing options and will gladly advise on the most suitable solution for each customer's requirements. All frames are made by hand in our workshops, using the highest quality archival materials and techniques to craft bespoke picture frames that compliment, preserve and protect the artwork.

Mounting and GlazingThe mount is one of the most important considerations when presenting and protecting any artwork. We use museum quality boards and practice. We offer a range of glazing products designed to protect artwork from the damaging effects of light pollution. Framing can be as simple or as elaborate as required, we offer a full range of options to suit the work being framed.

Gilded and Painted Mouldings
Our gilded finishes result from traditional techniques of applying gold or silver to a gessoed surface. The leaf can be burnished to a high polished, distressed or toned to suit.
To achieve a painted finish, we concentrate on applying water based layers of colour that can be sanded and polished to create tones that compliment and match those in the artwork.
